The Age of The Understatement

As all of us continue to live in the Age of the Understatement - when transparency is just a fancy word used frequently in the rhetoric of politicians, when Shadowy Puppeteering is still prevailing method of country ruling, Listening to the music from the album with the title “The Age of The Understatement” of the band with the name The Last Shadow Puppets seems to be more than stylish must.

Anybody who has more than average interest in contemporary rock/pop music knows about the retro trend in current music scene. A lot of new wave bands have been trying hard to combine the best from the past of the rich music history and create something new but with that retro feeling sound. Unfortunately most of these efforts sound like badly done collages/ pastiches.
And only The Last Shadow Puppets - a project of Alex Turner of the band Arctic Monkeys, Miles Kane of the band The Rascals, and composer/producer James Ford- has achieved the cherished goal creating a real piece of musical chef-d'oeuvre . Their album ''The age of the understatement'' can be proclaimed as the peak of evolvement of musical genesis. In their songs one can hear such inspirations as Skott Walker, David Axelrod, early Bowie, Ennio Mariconer's spagetti westerns, Lee Hazzlewood, Bond themes etc. Almost every song encompasses so many influences that it makes the sound absolutely unique and it is impossible to pinpoint the particular song or band which could be associated with it. The Album has a reminiscent retro tones but wrapped up in absolutely fresh, modernly stylish sound and Accompanied by The London Metropolitan Orchestra - Just bloody perfect.

It is definitely the best example of elaborate art work of gifted musicians which is totally opposite to the bloody degraded current pop industry world where no real people have been left and one can see only bloody imitations of emotions, style and music itself transmitted trough immature talentless dumb puppets in hands of the men who sold the world. But I am not keen on writing long review on this album as there are already hips of them out in the net. So Just bloody listen to The Last Shadow Puppets.

That is it.
